Front Office Receptionist

·          Permanent part time position (up to 30 hours per week/5 shifts), available for immediate start  AND casual part time position (up to 20 hours per week/3 shifts)

·      Shifts falling on any of the days of the week (including weekends)  and vary between 5 and 7 hours in length. 

·         Shifts: A shift starts at 7am ending at 2pm; B shift starts at 1.45pm, ending at 9pm (7pm on Fridays and Saturdays).

·         Remuneration: an hourly rate of pay that  relates to your experience.  Above award rates paid to experienced qualified employees. 

·         Annual leave 4 weeks

·         Award conditions (Hotel and motel clerks award)

·         Duties: 

o        checking in and checking out hotel guests

o        taking reservations by phone, online or over the counter

o        delivering guest services: tour bookings, tourist information enquiries, kiosk sales etc

o        responsible for cash register: taking payments, making charges to accounts

o        keeping online booking services up to date with inventory

o        printing out reports 

o        operating the Property Management System (software: RMS)

o        other clerical work as required.

·         This position is a specialist position in the hotel industry.  It is not a typical commercial office receptionist.  

·         Applicants must have a happy, hospitable and helpful nature.  

·         Applicants must be good at clerical work; precision is this area is very important if the hotel is to deliver its services properly.

·         Experience and/or training in hotel front office is important but not essential.  Knowledge of the travel industry also important.

·         Preparedness to work the shift hours - some shifts with early starts (7am), and some with late finishes (9pm, sometimes during the year shifts will finish at 10pm, but rosters will never be longer than 38 hours per week).

·         Applicants must be willing to work alone at the hotel (at times) although most of the time, there are two staff rostered to front office.  They must have the confidence and maturity to deal with problems at the hotel independently.  (Resident staff are always at the hotel for urgent  back-up help).

·         Applicants must be well groomed and always prepared to look their best when on duty.
